Anxiety Support Group

Feeling anxious can make getting through each day difficult.  Many people struggle with this feeling and never talk openly about it, which can prolong or intensify the experience.  The good news is that talking to others is helpful, healing, and refreshing.  

We offer an Anxiety Support Group, which is a safe, confidential, and supportive place to talk with others who also experience anxiety.  Lead and mediated by experienced clinicians, group sessions will explore what anxiety means to you and how you’re impacted by it.  We will also discuss varying ways to manage it, cope with it and hear other’s insight on what has helped them through their journey with anxiety.  

Parent Support Group

Caring for your child and seeking the best for them can be challenging for anyone. But too often the focus remains only on the child and never shifts to the parent.  This unbalance of wellness can cause a parent to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and alone. 

If you feel this way, take assurance that you are not alone; support is available and ready to meet your needs.  Led and mediated by experienced clinicians who are also parents, this Parent Support Group is geared towards the parents/caregiver of individuals with special needs. The group is an open forum where you can let your voice be heard and share with others in solidarity and support the difficulties of parenting.  Leaning on a support group can provide relief and refreshment with others.  You can share as much or as little as you want, or just sit in. Everyone is welcome.

Mindfulness Group (MBSR)

Originally developed at the University of Massachusetts in the 1970’s by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) was designed for individuals to gain in the following ares:

  • Approach your life with more composure, understanding, and energy. 
  • Develop skills to effectively cope with both long and short term stress, anxiety, depression, etc… and gain insight 
  • Improve your resilience and capacity to recover efficiently.
  • Find greater balance, peace and caring for yourself.


The
MBSR Focus Group is an 8 week evidence-based experience that is currently offered at more than 250 hospitals, universities, and other clinical settings throughout the world.  Progress City is proud to now offer this experience.  Led by LCSW and Certified MBSR Trainer, Kyoko Henson, MBSR provides individuals with skill development that can last their lifetime. It is a natural and organic approach to manage human life difficulties.

Narrative Therapy Group

Writing is often an outlet for expression and understanding that is overlooked. However, the impact of self-expression and reflection can be healing, fulfilling, and re-energizing.

Led by LPC and experienced Narrative Therapy clinician, Jennifer Pizzuto, the Narrative Therapy Group is a writing-based group that will explore life’s journey through personal narratives. Narrative therapy uses techniques that will help you shape reality while exploring more about yourself and others by reading and deconstructing journal prompts and other writing exercises with a supportive, clinical approach.

Trauma Informed Yoga Classes

Trauma can disrupt and deregulate the body and mind, while yoga aims to refresh and re-center. Collectively, yoga that incorporates trauma can result in benefits to both physical and mental health, including regulating emotions, feelings, and thought process.

Trauma Focused Yoga (TFY) is a basic yoga practice, and no experience is necessary. Led by certified TFY instructor, Kyoko Henson, individuals will be guided through the techniques of breathing while increasing awareness of how negative thinking/ feelings impacts our body. Over time, individuals will gain increased regulation of thoughts, emotions, and negative cycles, allowing for an increased positive mindset.

Modifications for all movements are offered in the comfortable and inclusive settings.
